Dealing with Grief During COVID-19

Many families over the course of the year haven’t been able to pay proper tribute to loved ones who may have passed during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you’re one of those families, you’re not alone. Bereavement can be a difficult experience no matter what else is happening, but it can be especially difficult with restrictions placed on us by the surrounding circumstances.

While funeral options may be few and far between during these times, it’s important to remember that Reflections Funerals is here to help you. We’re able to assist with many kinds of funeral options in and around the Penrith area, and while we’re able to cater to smaller parties with restrictions, we can also offer a myriad of services to help families cope.

Ways to Deal with Grief During COVID-19

It may not be easy, but being with family is essential during these times. It might feel a little more difficult than normal to stay in touch with close friends and family because of COVID restrictions, but they are the major backbone for anyone looking for a helping hand. Try and do video or phone calls, and if you’re able to see them, please try and do so but ensure that you stay in line with any and all government regulations. This includes social distancing and wearing masks.

Remember the person that you’ve lost. Spend time with close family looking at photos and remembering their life. It has been proven to give families some closure and comfort. You can plant a tree in their memory or perhaps light a candle on special occasions that remind you of your loved one.

Look after yourself in these times of trouble. It may be difficult especially if you’ve lost someone close to you such as immediate family, but making sure that you are eating and sleeping correctly can help you to feel better. You will likely take on emotional stress and it’ll make you feel helpless and tired. Have a talk with your local GP or doctor in finding ways to help calm your nerves and get a better night of sleep. Try to avoid things like caffeine and alcohol, and make sure that you get plenty of exercise.
